Which is why every measure is taken to ensure the perfection of your drink... from the extensive training for our Baristas, to our high standards in ingredients and preparation. It is also why we've chosen STUMPTOWN COFFEE ROASTERS to supply our hoppers. (Hoppers are the part of the grinder where we put the beans. See... we knew that you liked to be educated about coffee too.)
You want new, enticing and FRESH pastries which is why we have 10 different food suppliers. This enables us to pick and choose the best of the best and rotate our inventory daily to excite you.
We also know that you want to enjoy your stay with us by being in an environment that is unassuming, comfortable and connected (free wifi).You want your neighborhood cafe to feel like a public and social version of your living room.
Lastly, we know that you want the aforementioned goods to be served by a Barista that enjoys serving them to you. We love what we do and it shows. Our staff is crazy about about coffee and is excited to be a part of this amazing coffee culture. Just ask us about it.
About the Owners:
UCL was dreamed up collectively by local husband and wife, Jeff and Alicia Miner.
Creating the cafe experience is Alicia's department. She has been in and around the business most of her life. From running a independent with her sister as a teen, working at a multitude of coffee shops (even the "corporate coffee" ones), to owning her own successful espresso stand in Issaquah. Opening her own coffee shop has always been her dream. Through her acquired experience, Alicia set out to provide a superior coffee coupled with a personal cafe. You'll find Alicia at the shop most days as she promises not to rest until she and her great staff make UCL the Eastside's premier coffee shop.
Jeff is the creative mind. Being an architect by trade, it was only natural for him to design this new space. He wanted the feel of the shop to be inviting, interesting and fun while staying true to materials and clean. Jeff mixed urban-industrial with warm and comfortable - the outcome was unlike any other coffee shop. Not only did he design the shop, he also built much of what you see to give it a true personal touch.
TOGETHER they married a love of design with a passion for great coffee.
